ABOUT THE PROGRAM



Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), in collaboration with the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN convene Youth Voice for ASEAN-China Cooperation (YAC) under the theme “Achieving Modernization for a Shared Future”.

YAC will gather aspiring young professionals and students from across ASEAN countries to learn, discuss, and exchange views on ASEAN-China relations. Selected young professionals and students will undergo a series of virtual workshops and in-person lab and dialogues with Southeast Asian and Chinese experts and youth, and formulate a joint recommendation on how to further enhance ASEAN-China cooperation.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT



  • ASEAN nationals (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, Viêt Nam, and Timor-Leste)
  • Maximum of 35 years old;
  • Educational and/ or professional experience related to one of the following fields:
    • Political security;
    • Economy;
    • Socio-culture and people-to-people relations;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Interested to learn and eager to strengthen ASEAN-China cooperation;
  • Highly motivated in capacity-building activities.



APPLICATION REQUIREMENT



Applicants are required to submit CV/Resume and an essay of 500-800 words (excluding references) addressing the following points:

  1. General observation on ASEAN-China cooperation thus far;
  2. Identify your issue of interest in ASEAN-China relations (Please choose one between political security, economy, and socio-culture and people-to-people relations):
    • What challenges does your country and/or ASEAN face in achieving modernization for peace, prosperity and sustainability? 
    • What are your recommendations on how ASEAN-China can contribute to achieving modernization for a shared future?



BENEFITS FOR SELECTED PARTICIPANTS



  1. Recommendation letter from the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN to apply for the ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship;
  2. E-Certificate from FPCI and the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN acknowledging them as ASEAN-China Young Professional; 
  3. Best essay will be published on The Jakarta Post;
  4. Opportunity to join intensive and interactive workshops with experts and practitioners;
  5. Fully funded facility for the two-days lab in Jakarta, Indonesia; 
  6. Networking opportunities with fellow ASEAN and Chinese young professionals.
