Commemorative Symposium for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation

Five years after ASEAN establishment in 1967, Japan had its first dialogue, and on the 10th anniversary of ASEAN, Japan announced the Fukuda Doctrine. The Fukuda Doctrine promises Japan’s resolve to be a nation committed to peace and never again become a military power, to consolidate our relationship of mutual confidence and trust based on a “heart-to-heart” understanding as a true friend, and to support ASEAN’s own efforts to strengthen their solidarity and resilience as an “equal partner”.

Southeast Asia Lecture Hall: “Poverty and International Development with Rory Stewart”

In discussing the problem of poverty as a challenge to international development, H.E. Rory Stewart drew from his experiences as Secretary of State for International Development of the United Kingdom, a position he occupied in 2019. A Senior Fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, he shared insights from his expertise on crises in international politics and on interventions in fragile and conflict-affected states.

Indonesia’s Foreign Policy Outlook 2023

The public discussion on “Indonesia’s Foreign Policy Outlook 2023” revolved around Indonesia’s foreign policy in 2022 and prioririties for Indonesia’s foreign policy in the following year, as revealed in the Annual Press Statement 2023 of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Questions answered during the discussion included; What lessons may be learned from Indonesia’s foreign policy? What will be the key trends, opportunities and challenges? What should we anticipate? FPCI hosted students from various FPCI University Chapters so they could closely interact closer with Ambassadors in informal conversations over bakso. This virtual public discussion with the title, “Generation to Generation Dialogue: Empowering Grassroots Efforts in Promoting Interfaith Harmony,” focused on how to maximize grassroots efforts at promoting interfaith harmony and encourage cooperation between the young and older generations in a way that creates robust synergy. FPCI Roundtable Discussion with National Committee on United States–China Relations

FPCI hosted a delegation from the National Committee on United States–China Relations in an exclusive and candid roundtable discussion at Bengkel Diplomasi, FPCI Secretariat. Youth Voice for ASEAN-China Cooperation | Writing Competition & Policy Lab

In the latest ASEAN-China Special Summit in November 2021, President Xi Jinping announced China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) – calling it “a new milestone” in the history of the relations, and that it will inject new impetus into peace, stability, prosperity and development of the region and the world.In light of that, FPCI together with the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN initiates “Youth Voice for ASEAN-China Cooperation” – a program in which 20 winners of a region-wide essay writing competition will be able to participate in an exclusive two days policy lab to produce a policy recommendation that will be handed to the Chinese government and the ASEAN Secretariat.
