Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta, China Public Diplomacy Association, and CGTN are in cooperation to bring back the Halo China video competition in the year 2024!

Now in its fifth year, the competition will focus on the theme, “China Through My Eyes.”

In light of this year’s theme, each video should consist of your personal stories and experiences about China-Indonesia friendship, Chinese culture, technological innovations made in China, natural landscapes and destinations in China, youth exchanges, as well as China-Indonesia bilateral cooperation in economy, education, and technology. Each video submission should be a maximum of 4 minutes and should consist of information/infographics, analysis, personal stories, or hopes and aspirations surrounding China-Indonesia cooperation.

Participant Guidelines

  1. Create your video;
  2. Upload your video to Google Drive;
  3. Fill out the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2024;
  4. Add the link to your video to the registration form (make sure the link is not listed as private;
  5. Judges Selection Process;
  6. Attend Winner Announcement and Ceremony.

Submission Criteria

  • Participants must fill in the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2024, and attach the Google Drive link to your submission video. (You can register first and add the link to your video at a later time);
  • Videos may be submitted by an individual or group. There is no limit to the number of people per video submission;
  • Video must be in Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, or English, with corresponding translation subtitles;
  • Video must be no less than 1:00 minute and must not exceed 4:00 minutes in length;
  • Video resolution should not be less than 720p;
  • Video must include proper sources when using external footage;
  • Video must not include anti-religious, racial, violent or pornographic content. No offensive or sensitive content is allowed.

To avoid the ineligibility of your video submission, please note the following terms for reference:

  • If the video is in English, please use Bahasa Indonesia or Mandarin subtitles. If the video is in Bahasa Indonesia, please use English or Mandarin subtitles. If the video is in Mandarin, please use English or Bahasa Indonesia subtitles.
  • Please do not use the pronunciation ‘cina’ in your video. Instead, please use ‘Tiongkok’ or the English pronunciation ‘China’.
  • Please refer to ‘Taiwan’ as Taiwan, China; ‘Hong Kong’ as Hong Kong, SAR China; and ‘Macao’ as Macao, SAR China.
  • When using maps in your video, please use the official map at bit.ly/halochinamap.

In light of the theme “China Through My Eyes” your videos may discuss the friendship between the peoples, bilateral relations of the two countries, share your personal stories, conduct interviews, create special songs or poems, or make a descriptive informational video. What is Halo China?

No, this video competition is free of charge. All you need to do is to fill in the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2024.


Who is eligible to enter this video competition?

Indonesian youths under the age of 35 are eligible to enter this video competition.


Can I work in a group?

Yes, you may. However, please make sure that only one team representative submits your video through the bit.ly/halochina2024 registration form. Should your video be determined as one of the winners, the prize will be sent to your team representative.


How many winners will be selected? What is the prize?

The committee will select 20 best videos. Winners will receive a cash prize totalling up to Rp120.000.000.

What happened to the Fan Favorite Contest and Lucky Winner Prize?

Starting the year 2024, the Fan Favorite contest which was conducted in the previous years from 2020-2023 has officially been discontinued. This was a difficult choice to make, however this step had to be taken in order to ensure all aspects of the competition remain fair and credible. The Lucky Winner prize has also been discontinued.

What is the judging criteria for the videos?

The videos will be assessed based on Creativity (40%), Relevance to Theme (40%), and Production (20%).


Will I get a certificate by joining this program?

The Top 20 winners will obtain a certificate for this program.
