In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-China bilateral relations, Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta has launched a nationwide online video competition titled “Halo, @China! Video Competition”, which reflects the start of a conversation between Indonesians and a (virtual) Chinese audience.

Under the theme “Tell Your China Stories”, each video submission should span within 1 to 5 minutes and should consist of the participants’ “China stories”. Example videos could be about 1) Indonesia-China bilateral relations, economy, politics, regional and multilateral affairs, as well as travel, education, culinary, nature and wildlife, pop culture, fashion, martial arts, traditional medicine 2) Personal stories, anecdotes, and lessons regarding China from the their own perspective, 3) Social-economic impacts brought by Chinese investors and employers to Indonesia, 4) Perspective and suggestion on China’s image in Indonesia, etc. This video competition is open to Indonesian citizens from any background as well as Indonesian diaspora living abroad.

Submission Criteria

The videos submitted should adhere to the following criteria:

  • Participants must fill in the registration form at , and attach a link (Google Drive/WeTransfer) to your submission video.
  • Videos may be submitted by an individual or a group. There is no limit to the number of people per video submission video.
  • Each submission must include a copy of the participant’s active National ID Card (KTP).
  • Be 1 to 5 minutes in duration.
  • Be in Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, or English, with corresponding subtitles.
  • Should not include anti-religious, racial, violent, or pornographic content. No offensive or sensitive content is allowed.
  • Video resolution should not be less than 480P.
  • Should not contain plagiarism or violate any copyright laws.

In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Indonesia-China bilateral relations, the main topic of the submitted videos should surround the friendship and bilateral relations of the two countries. The videos may raise the following topics:

Fan Favorite

The Fan Favorite winner will be chosen from among the 21 finalists and will be determined by the total number of likes on his/her submission video on the @chinaembassy_indonesia Instagram and “Chinese Embassy in Indonesia” Facebook page. The Fan Favorite contest will take place from 20 October to 25 October 2020. The post with the most likes by the end of 25 October at 23:59 WIB will be chosen as the Fan Favorite winner. Stay tuned on the Chinese Embassy’s social media pages to vote for your video!

What is Halo, @China?

Halo, @China! Video Competition is a nationwide online video competition hosted by Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-China bilateral relations.


Is there a registration fee?

No, this video competition is free of charge. All you need is to fill in the registration form at bit.ly/halochina2020.


Who is eligible to enter this video competition?

Can I work in a group?

Yes, you may. However, please make sure that only one team representative submit your video through the bit.ly/halochina2020 registration form. Should your video be determined as one of the winners, the prize will be sent to your team representative.

The committee will select 20 best videos, including a Fan Favorite video. Winners will receive a cash prize totalling up to IDR 115,000,000.

How can I win the Fan Favorite Prize?

The Fan Favorite winner will be chosen from among the 21 finalists. The finalist videos will be posted onto @chinaembassy_indonesia on Instagram and “Chinese Embassy in Indonesia” Facebook page, and will remain live for 5 days, from 20 October until 25 October 2020. The post with the most likes by the end of Sunday, 25 October at 23:59 WIB will be chosen as the Fan Favorite winner.


What is the judging criteria for the videos?

The videos will be assessed based on Overall Impact (50%), Creativity (20%), Substance (15%), Structure (10%), and Production (5%).


Will I get a certificate by joining this program?

The Top 20 winners and the Fan Favorite winner will obtain a certificate for this program.


What language should my video be in?

Your video may be in Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, or English. If your video is in Bahasa, please include accurate English subtitles. If your video is in English, please include accurate Bahasa Indonesia subtitles. If your video is in Mandarin, please include both Bahasa Indonesia and English subtitles.
