The Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia, the largest foreign policy group in Indonesia with more than 100,000 people in its network, is pleased to welcome Professor dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Yongky Susilo, and Jamil Maidan Flores as the organization’s Senior Associates.

  • Professor dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, MD, joins FPCI having served as the Director of the World Health Organization Southeast Asia Regional Office from 2018 until 2020, the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, and the Chairman/Director General of the National Institute of Health Research and Development at the Indonesia Ministry of Health. He also contributed significantly to the cause of public health in his earlier role as the Responsible Person for the National IHR Focal Point in Indonesia and his involvement in Indonesia’s response to H5N1 events and to the 2009 influenza H1N1 pandemic. He is a newly appointed Member of the COVAX Independent Allocation of Vaccines Group (IAVG).
  • Prof. dr. Tjandra has held various distinguished government management and senior academic positions in the health sector. He is a Professor of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia; Director of Postgraduate School YARSI University, as well as an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Environment and Population Health, Griffith University, Australia. To date, he has authored more than 400 publications on academic journals as well as print media.
  • Yongky Susilo is a Director of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) Trading House, where he works to accelerate trading and investment between Indonesia and countries globally. He brings over 27 years of experience in Indonesia’s market and consumer behavior, including his former position as the Executive Director of Nielsen Indonesia. Susilo is a renowned thought leader in retail and a trusted advisor for defining the next retail opportunity based on consumer and market trends and foresights. He is one of today’s leading minds on consumer attitudes and behavior, internationally and nationally well-known as a retail speaker and contributor who is frequently featured on the media. He is on the Board of Experts on Indonesia Retailer Association.
  • Jamil Maidan Flores served for more than two decades as speechwriter at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Foreign Ministers. This wealth of experience enabled him to have in-depth, first-hand knowledge on issues related to Indonesian foreign policy. To date, Flores has authored more than ten books on ASEAN and Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the United Nations, as well as memoirs and biographies of prominent figures in Philippine politics. Flores collaborated with former Foreign Minister Ali Alatas in the writing and editing of his memoirs, and all his important speeches in English embodied in the book, “A Voice for Just Peace,” which features Alatas’s speeches before various forums from 1988 to 1999. He assisted Minister Alatas in the writing of his memoir, “A Pebble in the Shoe,” which recounts Minister Alatas’s role in Indonesia’s diplomatic struggle to retain its then 27th province, East Timor.  

On the occasion of this development, FPCI Founder and Chairman Dr. Dino Patti Djalal said, “We are very pleased to have Prof. Tjandra, Yongky, and Jamil onboard as our Senior Associates. Each of them brings his own skill, knowledge and, solid experience that would benefit FPCI’s advocacy on issues relating to public health, security, trade and investment, as well as foreign policy.
