The UN Climate Change Conference or COP-26 in November last year adopted the breakthrough Glasgow Climate Pact, the first formal COP agreement to reference the need to “phase-down of unabated coal power and inefficient fossil fuel subsidies.” Nevertheless, COP-26 President Alok Sharma considers the deal a ‘fragile win,’ citing concerns over the unfulfilled $100 billion promise from developed countries, insufficient attention to climate-induced loss and damages in developing countries, and the critical need for adaptation funds.
